Yr Hen Stabl
Fullbrook is a small working farm, with sheep, so March to April is a busy time for us with lambing. So that others can share and enjoy the beauty of Ceredigion, we have provided luxury self catering accommodation on the farm offering an excellent base for walkers, cyclists, fishermen or families wishing to explore this part of Wales.
Yr Hen Stabl (The Old Stable) sleeps 2/6 people - 1 double bedroom, 1 bedroom with twin beds and a double sofa bed in the living area. The living area and kitchen are open plan, the former with a multi fuel stove. The kitchen has a washing machine, tumble dryer, dish washer, fridge/freezer and an electric cooker and micro wave. It also has electric central heating system.
The market town of Tregaron is 2 miles away and lies at the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains. It has 3 banks, a chemist, doctor’s surgery, a small supermarket, two butchers, two pubs and a small general store.
Fullbrook overlooks Cors Caron one of the largest raised peat bogs in Europe and is a haven for wildlife. It features a new bird hide, extensive board walks and a cycleway (part of the Ystwyth Trail). Fullbrook itself also has fishing rights on the Cam Ddwr river a tributary of the River Teifi which flows through Cors Caron.
There is plenty to do in and around Fullbrook. A public footpath runs through the farm from which you can circumnavigate Cors Caron – about 11 miles. For those wishing to undertake more challenging fishing there are numerous fisheries within the immediate vicinity and day permits can be purchased locally for these and many of the local rivers.
The seaside town of Aberystwyth is approximately 17 miles away and from there you can take a steam train to Devils Bridge, to see the Mynach Falls. There are some lovely bays south of Aberystwyth whilst to the north there is Ynys Las beach with wonderful dunes and estuary overlooking Aberdovey. The university town of Lampeter is some 11 miles away.
For the more adventurous, Llyn Brianne reservoir is some 18 miles from Tregaron – heading up through the Cambrian Mountains along the old drover’s road. As kites wheel overhead, beautiful views amongst the hidden valleys lie in wait for those wishing to get ‘out in the hills’.
For those not wishing to undertake mountain walking, the Hafod Estate offers lovely shorter signposted walks. Nant Airian is also a place worth visiting, where you can see the Red Kites being fed once a day. There are also short and long walks from here. For the more intrepid, you can walk to the highest mountain in Ceredigion Pumlumon (2,468’/752m) and from here can be seen the peaks of Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons.
For lovers of the National Trust, there is a Nash designed house at Llanerchaeon, Dinefwr Park and Castle at Llandeilo and the Dolaucothi Gold Mines at Pumsaint - all within a few miles of Tregaron.
Come and visit us and you will find plenty more to do.
